Chickpeas are an annual legume of the family Fabaceae. Chickpeas are a nutritional powerhouse including Zinc. They are also rich in proteins hence a good Alternative protein replacement for all forms of plant-based diet. They combine well with many other foods to make delicious meals.
Preparations; There is no one best way of cooking Chickpeas. Our advice is to be creative and adopt the method that best works for you and the meal you are trying to serve.
Place the chickpeas in a large bowl. Pour over enough cold water to cover completely. Set aside overnight to soak.
After soaking, transfer the chickpeas to a colander to drain. Remove and discard any discolored chickpeas.
Place the drained chickpeas in a saucepan and cover with plenty of fresh cold water. Simmer until plump and tender.
Prepare soup with tomatoes, Onion, Green Pepper, spices, or any other combination of seasonings that you prefer. This soups hold be prepared separately, once ready add the Chickpeas and mix them well into the soup.
